PostMount

Microsoft 365 mail for apps and devices that can't sign in the modern way

Mail apps, printers, scanners and ERP keep using plain IMAP, POP3 and SMTP — PostMount delivers it all through Microsoft 365, even with basic authentication turned off.

Three steps — and the old app sends mail again

1

Install

From Microsoft Store, no admin rights on the computer.

2

Sign in to Microsoft 365

Your regular work sign-in; your mailbox appears by itself, shared ones in a click.

3

Point the app at PostMount

Server, ports, user name and password — copy them from PostMount.

IMAP, POP3 and SMTP AUTH stay turned off in Microsoft 365 — PostMount uses modern sign-in on their behalf.

Your old software,
Microsoft's modern mail

No basic auth needed

Works when IMAP, POP3 and SMTP AUTH are disabled in Exchange Online: PostMount signs in with OAuth and sends through Microsoft Graph.

Gateway for devices

Printers, scanners and ERP send on port 25 without a password — only from the IP addresses you allow.

Shared mailboxes

Read and send from shared mailboxes you have Full Access and Send As to — each with its own password.

Mail is never lost

If Microsoft 365 limits sending or the connection drops, messages wait in a queue on disk and go out automatically.

Mailbox export

Save a whole mailbox to PST, EML, MBOX or MSG — for archives, migrations and handovers, without Outlook.

You decide who connects

This computer only, the local network, or a list of allowed IPs — with a live check of Windows Firewall rules.

SMTP relay

Scan to email works again

Multifunction printers, scanners and ERP systems rarely support modern sign-in. Point them at PostMount as their SMTP server — the mail goes out through Microsoft 365 from the mailbox you choose:

  • Standard ports, no password Port 25, 587 or 2525 without encryption — the defaults most devices expect.
  • Only the devices you allow Access by IP address or subnet. Everyone else is refused — no open relay.
  • Several senders A device sends as the main mailbox, or as an additional one when it sets it in From.
  • See who is connected Every device by name and IP: connected now, last seen, and any errors.

Frequently asked questions

Yes — that is exactly what PostMount is for. It talks to Microsoft 365 through Microsoft Graph with modern sign-in, while your apps and devices keep using plain IMAP, POP3 and SMTP. Nothing needs to be re-enabled in the tenant.

No. Mail travels directly between the computer running PostMount and Microsoft 365. The license server only receives your email address and the computer name.

Any app that speaks IMAP, POP3 or SMTP: classic Outlook, Thunderbird, eM Client, The Bat! and others. The new Outlook for Windows can't connect to local IMAP servers, so it isn't supported.

Any device with scan-to-email over SMTP. Set PostMount as the SMTP server on port 25, 587 or 2525, without encryption and without a password, and add the device's IP address to the allowed list.

Not on the computer. In most organizations a regular Microsoft 365 sign-in is enough; where the organization requires app approval, an administrator grants it once for everyone.

Messages from devices wait in a send queue on disk and go out automatically once Microsoft 365 accepts them again — even after a restart. People using mail apps get a notice in their inbox explaining what happened.

PostMount warns you in advance and keeps working for 7 more days in a grace period. Messages already in the queue are always delivered.

A computer is any other PC on the network whose mail app is signed in to a mailbox; apps on the PostMount computer itself are always free. A gateway device is an IP address in the gateway's allowed list. If the limit is reached, the next one is refused with a clear message — the ones already working are not affected.

Windows 10/11, WebView2 Runtime (present in the system by default), and a Microsoft 365 mailbox in Exchange Online.

Payments are processed by Paddle: bank cards or a company invoice — from any country, with proper tax documents.
